22 January 2011. - Stage-eve of Gábor Koncz on the occassion of Day of Hungarian Culture

On 22nd January 2011 on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture Gábor Koncz was the guest of Attila József Cultural Centre. He is a famous hungarian actor and director rewarded with Kossuth Prize, and he is a member of the Immortals’ Theatre Company as well. His performance is titled „Life is a crazy running, sometimes we stop only for a few minutes”. This is about happiness, sadness, belonging and love. He had a great success, the audience will always remember his voice and appearance.

16 February 2011 - János Vitéz falk fairy – tale in the rendering of the Nevenincs Theatre

On 16th February 2011 children had the opportunity to see János Vitéz falk fairy-tale performed by Nevenincs Theatre in the theatre room of the Cultural Centre. Actors were wearing colourful, authentic dresses, and they use wondrerful lights, so the athmosphere was excellent.

1 March 2011 - SROP „Tudásdepo-Expressz” – Affirmation of the not formal and informal training role of the library network in favour of learning for life. Project-starting programme of SROP-3.2.4-09/1-2010-0022 c. tender

On 1st March 2011 there was the project-starting programme of SROP – 9.2.4-09/1 in the Library of Attila József Cultural Centre. After the speech of Erzsébet Dr. Kovácsné Faltin, the mayoress of Mezőhegyes, the project was described by one of the librarians, Márta Zsóriné Kovács. The short celebration was coloured by the performance of students of the Shool of Arts.

1 March 2011 - „ I hear in vain if I do not read it” Lecture of Imre Csernus dr. psychiatrist

On 1st March 2011 the famous hungarian psychiatrist Imre Csernus dr. took a lecture titled „I hear in vain if I do not read it” in the theatre room. The audience was divided by his manner. Someone was brave enough to start a debate with him but most people just kept quiet and listened to his strict words. The lecture was interactive and the doctor did’t mince his words with the members of the audience.

8 March 2011 - Imre Hevesi and La Bomba concert

On 8th March 2011 Imre Hevesi and La Bomba were our guests. Their concert started at 17:00. This day is the International Women’s Day as well so we were waiting for our women guests with special respect. We had an excellent evening, we heard and sang well-known songs together.

From 1 April 2011 to 22 April 2011 - Internet course

17. From 1st and 22nd April 2011 we took an Internet course for 10 unemployed people for a period of 20 hours. Participants got acquainted with the basic knowledge of computer science and internet. During the period mentioned above there were 7 occasions for teaching and we hope we managed to raise the interest in the world of computers.

11 April 2011 - „It’s worthless without laughing…” Podium-afternoon of Ildikó Pécsi, Kossuth-Prize Eminent Artist

On the Day of Poetry, 11th April 2011, we invited Ildikó Pécsi, Kossuth prized actress and director. In the first half of the day she was the chairwoman of the jury on the regional competition for poem tellers. Then she took a podium-afternoon titled „It’s worthless without laughing”. Mostly it was about Attila József. Apart from his poems Ildikó Pécsi told us extracts from Jolán József’s book called „In the edge of the city”. So in the remaining part of the day humour had the leading role.

3 May 2011 - Small-regional quiz for primary school pupils with Gábor Nógrádi and Gergely Nógrádi, writers

The famous writers Gábor Nógrádi and Gergely Nógrádi were our guests on 3rd May 2011. This day Children showed their knowledge on a sub-regional competition. The contest based on two books: „Vau” written by Gábor Nógrádi and „Sweet munyimunyi” by Gergely Nógrádi. Children spent their afternoon with a lot of games and laugh. They got book-prize and a lot of useful knowledge. The writers gave some of their books to the library. They are worth approximately 10.000 HUF.

10 May 2011 - Irregular Hungarian Literature lesson: János Arany: Toldi in the rendering of the Nevenincs Theatre

On 10th May 2011 at 12:00 children saw the stage-version of Toldi from János Arany performed by Nevenincs Theatre. The athmosphere was excellent, audience was involved in the performance.

20 May 2011 - Playful cultural quiz for families

OFamily competitions have great tradition in our library. Earlier we had the opportunity to organize a quiz similar to this one supported by the Library of Békés County. It gave us the idea to organize this playful contest. We tried to invite adults and children to the library. Competitors got different tasks which were playful but reading- and library-centred as well. Our purpose was to increase the number of library visitors and make more and more people be fond of reading.

27 May 2011 - Children’s Day – 100 Folk Celsius concert

On 27th May 2011 on the occasion of Children’s Day 100 Folk Celsius gave a concert called „Paff a bűvös sárkány” on the open-air stage of the Cultural Centre. The audience of children and adults was enchanted.

09 July 2011 - Rozália Kóka tale teller

On 9th July 2011 at 16:00 in the course of folk-dance camp Rozália Kóka told beautiful tales for children. She is a great character of the hungarian folk art, and she was rewarded with Hungarian Heritage-prize as well. Apart from learning to dance children hung upon her words. The tale-teller dressed in traditional costume made the afternoon more enjoyable with her special folksy pronounciation.

20 August 2011 - From the Hungarian conquest till the European song…

On 20th August 2011 on the occasion of St. Stephen’s Day we invited many famous hungarian artists from Budapest. Their performance called „From the Hungarian conquest till the European song” included many songs from the most beautiful hungarian musicals and rock operas (eg.: Stephen, the king). Artists: Miklós Varga, Gyula Vikidál, Réka Koós, Pál Makrai, Bernadett Tunyogi, József Kalapács, László Molnár.

On 30th September 2011 Travelling Theatre of Tihany was our guest on the occasion of International Day of Folk Tales. Title of their performance: Tale of King Matthew. Children enjoyed the colourful and spectacular programme very much.

7 October 2011 - Leslie L Lawrence

On 7th October 2011 Leslie L Lawrence, the famous hungarian writer, literary translator and orientalist visited us, not for the first time. Readers know him as Leslie L. Lawrence. His novels are always exciting and eventful. The audience was allowed to ask questions and the writer was pleased to answer them.

10 November 2011 - Szende Csernik foot-puppeteer

On 10th November 2011 Szende Csernik entertained the children. She is a foot-puppeteer born in Transylvania. She is the artist of Lábita Theatre as well. Children soon became a part of her tales. Her slogan: „Tale cures us, tale is game, wonder, faith and soul…”.

30 November 2011 - Palinta Company – Waiting for Santa

On 30th November 2011 Palinta Theatre Company arrived at Mezőhegyes with their performance called „Waiting for Santa Claus”. There was also a common production within the programme. Children were given small gifts for it.

15 December 2011 - András Berecz - „Waiting for Christmas Tales”

On 15th December 2011 there was the final event of our project. The Kossuth-prized tale teller András Berecz entertained the audience preparing for Christmas. The name of his performance was „Waiting for Christmas with Tales”. The artist enchanted people with his special folksy pronounciation and the authentically use of words. Finally he sang „csángó” folk songs.
